Miller College of Business faculty Doug Naffziger and Fred Kitchens and a group of 14 business students traveled to England and France for two weeks after spring semester ended. For 12 of the students, it was their first visit to Europe. Highlights of the trip included professional visits and presentations at Rolls-Royce and the Bank of England in London, as well as the Council of Europe Development Bank and the Agence Regionale de Developpement (Paris regional economic development agency) in Paris. The Ball State business group also had the opportunity to hear lectures about British culture and politics and about the recent French presidential elections and French culture.
Getting to know freshmen, parents, alumni Summertime has arrived at Ball State and, along with it, orientation for fall semester incoming freshmen! Ball State University Vice President for Enrollment, Marketing, and Communications Tom Taylor expects a freshman class with average SAT scores up 27 points from last year. Miller College of Business faculty and staff attend daily breakfasts for parents and discuss business majors and minors. We have the opportunity to meet lots of Ball State alumni in these groups as well.
Host a faculty intern We are seeking business partners for the Miller College of Business Faculty Internship program this summer. One of the program’s goals is to encourage faculty members to innovate teaching methods—creating student learning materials and establishing student visits, internships, and immersive learning opportunities. Areas of focus this summer are: business policy and strategic management; international business; human resources management; consulting; information systems; and marketing.
If you are interested in hosting a business faculty member for a week this summer, or if you’d like to learn more about this initiative, contact Ray Montagno at rvmontagno@bsu.edu or Tammy Estep at testep@bsu.edu .
Please join us at farewell event The Miller College is hosting a farewell ice cream social for me Tuesday, July 10, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. by Frog Baby fountain. If you’re in the area, I’d love to have a chance to say goodbye. My last work day at Ball State is July 13. No interim dean has been named at this time. The Dean Search Committee is hard at work soliciting nominations and applications from prospects.
